Bryan Gates
Associate Athletics Director / Annual Fund
Bryan Gates joined Texas Tech Athletics and the Red Raider Club as the Assistant Athletics Director-Annual Fund in May of 2018. Gates' role with the Red Raider Club includes leading the annual fund team to grow and retain annual membership participation with contributions tied specifically to the Excellence Fund, RRC game day seating, donor-based benefits, and communications. In addition to leading the annual fund team, Bryan manages a diverse donor portfolio, working directly with Red Raider Club members and supporters at all levels in a development officer capacity.
Prior to Texas Tech and the Red Raider Club, Bryan served as the Assistant Athletics Director for Development at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) where he led the development efforts for the Miner Athletic Club. This included direction and oversight of all athletic development operations while also working as a frontline development officer for UTEP. Gates arrived in El Paso in November 2012, taking over the role of Director of Development, which he held for three years before being promoted to Assistant Athletics Director.
While at UTEP, Gates played a major part in the Circle of Champions Program fund seeing a near 25 percent increase, an 18 percent increase in member support for the Miner Athletic Club, and a 45 percent in UTEP's annual fundraising event the Orange Fever Fiesta.
Gates' was also a part of the Sun Bowl Modernization team while at UTEP assisting in UTEP's planning and fundraising for a 15 million dollar facility project at the Sun Bowl Stadium.
Before his time at UTEP, Gates previously worked at Eastern Illinois University and Texas State University. At both stops his duties were focused on athletics development.
The Houston, TX native holds both a Bachelor's of Business Administration and Master's of Education-Sport Administration from Texas State University. He and his wife Ximena now call Lubbock home along with their son, a future Red Raider.
